Fifty-three years since post-Six Day War exodus of last Jews

The outbreak of the Six Day War this month 53 years ago marked the final exodus of remnant Jewish communities from the Arab  world.

Jews fled Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Aden. Iraq  and Syria still considered their Jews hostages and did not allow them to leave. In Tunisia, a pogrom broke out on 6 June. A mob ran amok, destroying Jewish property and damaging the Great Synagogue in Tunis.

Here is rare footage of the riots in Tunis. As a result, 18,000 Jews fled, leaving all their possessions behind. Most left for France.
