Cairo's Jews face uncertain future under Islamists

Inside Cairo's Jewish quarter

With thanks: Qumran Qumran

Celine has Alzheimer's Disease and lives with her memories. She is one of Cairo's last remaining Jews.

RT (Russian Television) caught up with her: the hatred of the Egyptians for the Jews and 'that tiny country'(Israel) is palpable since the revolution. She fears what may happen next, and is scared if her neighbours see her being interviewed.

RT says that Jews have lived in Cairo since the time of Maimonides in the 12th century. In fact, a Jewish presence in Egypt goes back millennia.

RT finds an Egyptian non-Jew who learned his trade from a Jew and fell in love with another. But plenty of Egyptians are on hand to demonstrate their hatred for Israel, and their wish that the peace treaty be abrogated.

Watch this 2 minute clip and weep.
