One would think that in this post 9/11 world when radical Islam's hatred of Jews and Israel is becoming mainstream, Jews living in Muslim countries would plan to leave -but that's not the case.

This says that you can give someone the opportunity to do something, but you cannot force them to do it if they do not want to. Jews in Turkey, Morocco and Iran all have the availability and support system available to relocate to Israel, but they don't take advantage of it in any substantial manner. Yet, some good can come from the evil spouted by the lips of Iran's Ahmadinejad, if in fact it rouses more of the Jews from Turkey, Morocco or Iran to consider emigrating to Israel -before he inspires radical elements to act on his words against the Jews in those Muslim countries."

ReplyDeleteI am a Berber from Algeria and I can tell you Jewish people in Morocco used to live very peacefully with the Berber people - they shared the same villages, bought in the same markets and ate from the same food. Unfortunately, since the rise of Islamist racist ideology, Jewish people feel threatened and I really feel sorry for this. This ideology is poisoning many people and many minds. There are only a few Jewish people left in Morocco.
In Algeria, there are probably only a handful of Jewish people. It is a big shame since there used to be a big Jewish community here, throughout history. To answer your question: I know Israel as a holy land for Jews is important, but when you are brought up in a country and you feel you belong there it's difficult to leave. In Morocco for example, Jewish and non-Jewish were like borthers - now it's different because of terrorist bastards -. This is what I think, but only Jewish people can answer you.

ReplyDeleteI am Moroccan berber. It is a shame that Jewish people leave Morocco. They should not do that. We berbers used to live with them. They speak berber, dress our clothes and live with us. But since Arabs came they chased Jews and opressed berbers. So. it is not only jews berbers also have no right in north Africa, their land. They have been opressed. they have no right to speak their language. they were not given right in employments in public services... etc. And Arabs name the whole north africa: Maghreb Arab and everybody have to pay the price...
