The comments of some ex-Egyptian Jews were especially important. However, methinks that the journalist Mayton is not naive at all. He has been working in Egypt for several years, as I understand, making pro-Egyptian propaganda and editing a pro-Arab propaganda rag.Eliyahu m'Tsiyonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07973268399414290195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12677825.post-82799754396026475522012-10-08T22:35:04.746+01:002012-10-08T22:35:04.746+01:00This article is highly suspicious, which is why I ...This article is highly suspicious, which is why I haven't linked to it. It is nonsense to say that these two Jews have stayed on in Egypt because of their European passports - Jews with European passports were expelled by Nasser in 1956.
Eliyahu Re the JID article: Nothing they say rings true - these interviewees do not sound like Jews. Egyptian Jews are not waiting in the wings to return to Egypt. And as a commenter pointed out, there are most probably no more than 25 old ladies left in Egypt - certainly no 'young' people. Methinks the naive journalist asked to be introduced to Jews and was led a merry dance by his minder, who has probably got two friends to agree to pose as Jews. bataweenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15829104245735619972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12677825.post-4795049706402989582012-10-08T21:57:50.924+01:002012-10-08T21:57:50.924+01:00Yerushalmi is generally considered a "leftist...Yerushalmi is generally considered a "leftist" but for a "leftist" he is sometimes sane. Certainly he is honest about his own experiences.

BTW, if anybody hasn't seen this story about young Jews in Egypt, who mouth the Arab line, then here it is. I consider it rather dubious but you never know.
http://www.jewishideasdaily.com/5097/features/the-egyptian-jewish-remnant-against-israel/#comment-32103Eliyahu m'Tsiyonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07973268399414290195noreply@blogger.com
