Here's a great new tool from
Irish4Israel to explain the 'ethnic cleansing' of almost one million Jews from the Middle East and North Africa in the last 60 years.
The inset on the top shows Lebanon: 14,000 Jews reduced to fewer than 50. The inset in the bottom right-hand corner shows Bahrain, which has 36 Jews.
We expect that Yemen will go white within five years. If present trends continue there will be no Jews in Tunisia or Morocco in the next 15 to 20 years.
Best current estimates of Iran is that 'official' counts are way way off. Iran seems proud of the fact that there are still 25,000 Jews in Iran down from several hundred thousand in 1979. But the reality is closer to 8 or 9,000 total. Everyone else has left either with permission or without it. Similarly there's been a quiet Exodus from Turkey. Official numbers talk about 25,000 in Turkey but it's far more likely the number is about 17,000 and falling. In 10 years there will be zero Jews across the entirety of North Africa, the Mideast and West Asia outside of Israel. Zero. 10 years.
ReplyDeleteOn the eve of the Six Day War, there was a banner waved in Lebanon that said, "First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people." Christians should take note of what's happened to the Jews in the Middle East and consider it an object lesson.
ReplyDeleteEmpress Trudy: I would give Iran and Turkey slightly longer than 10 years, maybe 20? But the downward trend is probably irreversible.
ReplyDeleteWe Jews from Egypt are now happy CIVILISED people! So mabe it was a blessing in disguise. The only thing that hurts it the fact that the first have long gone and did not live to see our success as free and respected people. I am thinking about my parents who left us shortly after our exile. And this I cannot forgive or forget

Two countries should be added, Kuwait and Djibouti. Kuwait had many Iraqi Jews and Djibouti had many Yemenite Jews. Also all the Central Asian countries are not noted.
ReplyDeleteThere were never more than 200 Jews in Kuwait. I don't think Djibouti had 'many' Jews. AFAIK, there was a Jewish tribe which converted to Islam 800 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThis is very old I know so i do apologize.
DeleteBut as a Djibouti jew this is incorrect.
There is still a preserved grave yard in Djibouti with graves much younger then the 1200's.
It wasn't until the early -mid 2000's that the grand Beith Keneseth in Djibouti city was renovated and turned into a store front and offices. The era of the Jewish community of Djibouti ended in the past 70 years with migration.
Did you originally live in Aden?

Yemen should be about to go white this year or next. Arrangements are being made now.
ReplyDeleteDruze-Israeli Deputy Minister Says Yemen Jews Told to Leave or Convert to Islam
I wrote about it beginning here: The Redemptive Story Behind Cyclone Chapala. It continues for two more parts after that.
I agree with the anonymous Egyptian that it is a blessing in disguise. May all the Mizrahi Jews come home!
Qoheleth, I would very much like to know about the Djibouti community, why they left and where they are now.
ReplyDeleteThis month 13 Jews were expelled from Yemen....6 are left {Not counting Jewish women forced to Marry Non Jews...May the L-d See and do Justice for them)
ReplyDeleteThe Jews of Iraq number 3 still alive
