Jewish woman elected to Bahrain parliament

With thanks to Iraqijews for this abstract from Al Arabiya: Huda Ezra Noonoo, who is Jewish, was elected last December to Majlis AlShoura (the national assembly) in Bahrain. She replaces Abraham Noonoo (pictured right), who served for two terms in the Majlis. Huda's family emigrated from Iraq to Bahrain about a century ago.

There are now 10 women in the Majlis, among them one Christian (pictured). In all, there are 40 members in Majlis AlShoura. Huda Noonoo is head of a Bahraini human rights organization.
