I am so proud that my country admitted the european Jews and the Armenian to get in Egypt someday.
I am happy also for the collapse of militant regime.

I want only to put something right.
i confess there are racists here clearly hate Jews , but there are two other sorts of people.

some people ignorantly considering Israelis and Jews are the same , there's no difference!!!
others just pronounce Jews (yahood) for Israelis (israeleyeen) for only it's hardly pronounced in Arabic and that's not right too

like those who consider any Arab as terrorist and any anti-Israel is antisemitism.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02788943165457442772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12677825.post-14641019454419233152011-03-01T16:08:59.663+00:002011-03-01T16:08:59.663+00:00Those who say "return to Egypt" have for...Those who say "return to Egypt" have forgotten the cries : edbah el yahoud! Slaughter the Jews. We who left in 1956 are now old and the very idea of rebuilding a place where inevitably they would turn against us is ludicrous. Sorry, i have lost all trust in my "former" country.if help is to be given it's to Israel.
suzy vidal aka sultana latifaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12677825.post-7488059982578946792011-03-01T15:07:19.785+00:002011-03-01T15:07:19.785+00:00(Thanks bh.)

We Jews support you from afar: I can't see any return of Jews in any great numbers to Egypt happening soon. But there are initiatives underway to help promote positive change by dissidents and minority groups outside Arab countries. He immigrated from Tunisia to Israel
in 1954 and over the years, he published more than 170 articles and books.
Among them is his monumental Les juifs d'Afrique du Nord; bibliographie
(Hebrew and French) of which a companion volume of updates was published
several months ago; La presse periodique juive d'Afrique du Nord (Hebrew and
French); Un siecle de litterature judeo-arabe tunisienne (1861-1961) (Hebrew).

Mr. Attal was not only a source of knowledge and support for countless
scholars and students all around the world, but a person who enjoyed helping
others with high modesty and humor.

This is a great loss especially for those researching in North Africa. We
are already missing him.

Mahilde Tagger
Sephardim SIG
Israel Genealogical Society

..........................
bhAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12677825.post-72225303531496766472011-03-01T11:46:11.848+00:002011-03-01T11:46:11.848+00:00i live in Alexandria now and it's completely d...i live in Alexandria now and it's completely different here.
for me i wish you get back to help us to rebuild Egypt , save Egypt from the sectarian radical islamists
so Egypt become for everybody respects Egypt.

there a lot of liberals here believe in freedom and equality , only they need some organizing.
support us instead of talking about the past.Andrewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02788943165457442772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12677825.post-47963876355915410342011-03-01T11:16:41.173+00:002011-03-01T11:16:41.173+00:00Aciman writes that because of Nasser's policy,...Aciman writes that because of Nasser's policy,
Egypt was becoming Egyptian, which made perfect sense, of course, but the more it became Egyptian, the more it seemed to drift back in time.

I understand what Aciman means here. But I disagree. Actually, Egypt was not becoming more Egyptian but more Arab and Muslim. After all, the original Egypt was not Arab or Muslim. In ancient times, Egypt was a center of civilization. Since the Arab conquest about 1350 years ago, Egypt has been transformed into another culture, backward compared to the rest of the world, crueler, more destructive, forgetful of the country's historical roots and legacy. Nasser wanted to bring Egypt back to the Egypt of the Mamluks, backward, stagnating, ignorant, aggressive. In most ways, the original Egypt was not like that.Eliyahu m'Tsiyonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07973268399414290195noreply@blogger.com
